Digital menu vs PDF menu

Many venues already “have QR codes”: they point at a PDF in Google Drive. That is a file delivery method, not a menu system. It can be enough for a stable, single-language list. It starts to fail when the room is bilingual, items run out, or you want the scan to become an order.

This comparison is about operations, not design fashion.

Updates during service

A PDF requires a new file and often a new print of the code if you hosted it as a one-off link. A digital menu lets you hide an item in the workspace; existing table codes keep working.

Language and layout

Two PDFs (Arabic and English) drift apart. A multilingual digital menu keeps one item record with two (or more) strings and an RTL layout for Arabic readers.

The path to ordering

You cannot honestly add table ordering on top of a PDF. You would be asking guests to type into a form that does not know modifiers or table identity. A living catalogue is the prerequisite.

FAQ

When is a PDF still reasonable?

A short, rarely changing, single-language list — for example a tasting sheet you reprint weekly anyway — can stay a PDF. If you update daily or serve Arabic and English, a live catalogue is the better fit.

Does switching to HalaQR mean redesigning dishes?

No. You bring the existing catalogue. The change is how it is published and, later, how tickets reach the kitchen.
